A Meissen Hausmalerei flared Chinoiserie beaker
Circa 1725, the Augsburg decoration by Elisabeth Auffenwerth
Of flared conical form, each side painted with two Orientals on terraces with flowering shrubs, trees and elaborate fences with insects and an exotic bird in flight above, one side with a figure holding scales, his companion seated holding a ladle, the other with a figure holding a long staff surmounted by a smoking brazier, a kneeling figure and a large coffee-pot on a pedestal nearby, within baroque arched gilt line cartouches edged with husks above and dot ornament below, the elaborate puce and iron-red diaper panels at the sides of each cartouche joined with flamboyant gilt interlocking scrolls and strapwork, on a gilt gadrooned foot, the interior with a band of gilt interlocking scrolls and husks below a gilt band (minor small chipping to footrim, minute chip to rim, slight wear to gilt rim and footrim)

For similar Gitterwerk see the pieces with figures in costume illustrated by Siegfried Ducret, Meissener Porzellan, Vol. II., nos. 108-121 where he ascribes the decoration to Elisabeth Wald, dating from after 1743.
