Tasting note: My two favourite vintages of the outstanding decade of the 1980s are 1985 and 1989, the first elegantly restrained and the latter well endowed. Pétrus '89 is a seriously large scale (though small production) wine: deeply coloured, intense, packed with fruit and power, with pomerol sweetness and richness. Still tannic. MB. (2002).
