A Meissen circular butter-tub and cover
Circa 1740, Pressnummer 23 to base
Of shallow form with raised gilt bands and pierced lug handles with a band of brown and gilt scrolling foliage and shell ornament, the shaped cover painted after Pronck with a spaniel barking at a chained parrot on a perch with a bunch of cherries on its feeding bowl and with scattered insects, the scene repeated flanking the gilt cone finial within a shaped gilt line rim (the base cracked across and restuck with two associated chips, one handle damaged and restuck with an associated chip, a small chip to underside of cover near handle aperture)
