A French ebonised and gilt-brass mounted striking mantel clock, circa 1880
The case with eight finials to a moulded cushion top and a guilloche cast gallery, with brass-lined glazed panel to the front door and to the sides, brass line inlays, the gilt-brass base on toupie feet, the matted gilt dial with reserve signed Gosselin Paris, applied with a cast chapter ring with white enamel Roman cartouche chapters, blued steel hands, the twin barrel movement with strike on gong, with stamp to the back plate for JAPY FRÈRES -- 13½in. (34.5cm.) high
