A French gilt-metal and porcelain-mounted striking mantel clock, circa 1870
The case surmounted by a figure of a Muse, with female bust mounts to the angles, the side panels painted with cherubs supporting fruiting baskets, on green reserves, the conforming dial painted with individual Roman chapters and with cherubs emblematic of the Arts, with retail signature DENT A PARIS, with steel moon hands, the twin barrel movement with strike on bell and repeat signature to the back plate -- 10½in. (27cm.) high
