Lot Essay

This is one of the only three known examples of works by the Neapolitan artist Francesco Magliulo. The other two, Christ and the Adulteress and The Washing of the Ten Lepers, are recorded as having been commissioned by a certain Giuseppe Rodeoro in 1666.
