Lot Essay

This mirror has several Irish characteristics, including the foliage-carved frieze and paired columns flanking the plate, features that are seen on earlier mirrors by Francis and John Booker. The use of blue glass for the panels behind the columns is also a particularly Irish feature, often seen on Irish oval mirrors with cut-glass beaded decoration.
