AN IRISH REGENCY MAHOGANY OPEN BOOKCASE-ON-STAND
The shaped cresting above five graduated shelves with reeded front, above a ropetwist torus moulding, on spirally-reeded tapering legs and toupie feet with brass caps and castors
76 in. (193 cm.) high; 42 in. (107 cm.) wide; 14¾ in. (37.5 cm.) deep

Specialist note

The 'chiffonier' pier-table serves as a mobile library, and a Grecian wave-scrolled pediment above its stepped book-shelves, while its columnar legs are reed-cabled in the Egyptian fashion as illustrated in an 1805 commode pattern in George Smith's, Collection of Designs for Household Furniture and Interior Decoration, 1808 (pl. 117).
