An Ouder Amstel porcelain "military scenes" coffee and tea service
1795-1800, marked with Amstel in underglaze blue and variously impressed for the Daeuber period
Gilt and painted in colours, decorated with humourous scenes depicting military men and their female companions at various pursuits, the edge gilt, comprising: a cylindrical teapot and cover, the body with geometrical handle, oblique spout, the cover en suite with pointed finial, 13.3cm. high; a cylindrical milk-jug with generous spout and geometrical handle, 13cm. high; a circular sugar bowl and cover en suite, 11.5cm. high; a circular slop bowl, circa 22cm. diam.; a pair of circular pattipans with wavy edge, 14cm. diam.; ten cylindrical cups and saucers, with ear handle; two extra saucers; an associated Paris or Brussels porcelain coffee pot and cover, the urn-shaped body decorated en suite to the Amstel service with carousing military folks, with elongated spout, double-scrolled neo-classical handle, the domed cover en suite with pointed finial, 26.3cm. high, one cup restored
