Comprising 60 miniatures of bodhisattvas, protector deities, lamas, spirits, and ritual implements including the 7th Dalai lama, Kelzang Gyatso, inscribed on reverse of each card and grouped together into five matts
Each image approximately 2½ x 2 in. (6.4 x 5 cm.)

Lot Essay

This set of tsakali (ritual miniature paintings) was made during the lifetime of the 7th Dalai Lama, Kelzang Gyatso (1708-1757). Tsakali are used for any of the following: empowerments, initiations, visualizations, creation of mandalas, and as substitutes for ritual implements.
