the cover inset with a carved and pierced ivory panel of ho-o among cloud scrolls on a gold lacquer ground, the box carved to simulate a basket-weave effect -- 9½in. (24cm.) long max., (split to the side of the wooden box, small ivory section loss to the edge of the panel).
