Exhibited
London, The Victoria Gallery, The Stanley and African Exhibition, 1890, Objects of interest with Emin Pasha Relief Expedition Collected and lent by Mr. H.M. Stanley. no.4 (knife worn by Mr. Stanley).
Stanleys 'useful knife', exhibited in 1890 as part of the Emin Pasha display but probably used on his earlier expeditions as well. The earlier exhibition label 30 may well relate to an exhibition of objects in the late 1870s, organised after the return of the Trans-Africa expedition. The exhibtion label reads "Mr Stanley's useful knife, always at his side, used also for cutting and making Marching Sticks."
