Paris: L.Tenré and Henri Dupuy, 1834-1835. 2 volumes, 4° (275 x 185mm.). Half-titles, titles with wood-engraved vignettes. 3 engraved sheets of portraits, 274 engraved plates, 3 folding engraved maps, occasional wood-engraved illustrations. (Some spotting.) Contemporary French blue morocco-backed marbled-paper covered boards, titled in gilt on spines (joints weak, lower joints vol I slightly split, some scuffing).

A useful resumé of the voyages of discovery made in the Pacific, India and Asia, from Magellan up until the early-19th century. The majority, if not all, of the plates are reduced copies of images that are published elsewhere. Spence 395. (2)
