This poster documents The Beatles' last ever concert. At Candlestick Park, watched by a capacity crowd of 25,000 people, The Beatles played a set that lasted just over 30 minutes.
Their tour of America in the Summer of 1966 saw the group playing to large stadiums of screaming fans where they couldn't hear themselves play - in the words of John Lennon: ...the music wasn't being heard. It was just a sort of freak show: the Beatles were the show and the music had nothing to do with it... These frustrations, together with the outcry over John Lennon's bigger than Jesus comment, and four years of relentless touring had taken their toll. At the Candlestick Park concert, the band placed cameras on their amps and took photographs of themselves between tunes, knowing that this was probably going to be their last live appearance.
