This pair of fauteuils is identical to a suite of Louis XVI giltwood furniture by Lelarge comprising a marquise and a pair of fauteuils which were in the collection of Mrs. Cornelius Vanderbilt, New York, then anonymously sold, Sotheby Park Bernet, New York, 27 November 1976, lot 182 and again from the collection of Mr. and Mrs.Franklin N. Groves at Christie's New York, 15 October 1988, lot 111 ($ 49,500).
