Lot Essay

Gabrial Cornelius von Max, is recorded in Prague and Munich (1840-1915).

The most celebrated use of the Thannhäuser legend is Wagner's three-act opera. The scene shown here is prior to his escape from Venusburg, place of fleshly temptation.
