A FEREGHAN SAROUK CARPET
West Persia, circa 1910
The camel field with an overall design of dense palmettes, flowering tendrils and cloudband executed in a range of earthy colours, in a shaded brick-red border of palmettes linked by flowering vine between minor camel boteh and indigo leaf and rosette stripes, inscription cartouche at one end, slight loss at each end, a few areas of slight wear

Lot Essay

The inscription reads Qazan Qarpet Shirka. A Kashan "Mochtasham" carpet produced by the same company with comparable design was sold in these rooms 3rd May 2001 lot 37.
