FIRST EDITION. PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY MILLER on the preliminary blank "To Benno with best wishes always Henry Miller Paris 10/37."
Also an American expatriate in Paris, Benno inspired Miller's short story "Benno, the Wild Man of Borneo," which had been first published one month earlier in the September issue of The Booster, the small Paris magazine edited by Alfred Perles for the benefit of Miller, Anais Nin, Lawrence Durrell, William Saroyan, and other indigent expatriate writers.
