Eliot's great friend ROGER SENHOUSE on front free endpaper: "Roger Senhouse. 1st proof. 16.3.64. 5-59 p.m. B.B.C. Home Service. 'Is Big Brother already watching us 20 years before 1984?' Announcer's comment on planting of 'bug' radio pick-up instrument in American Ambassador's room in Czechoslovakia." The book's title, the author's name, and the names of his literary agents written in ink on upper cover, the book's title written in ink on spine, all probably by Roger Senhouse. In this proof the title is expressed numerically.
