A GEORGE II MAHOGANY, SATINWOOD AND SABICU BUREAU-CABINET
Circa 1750, the satinwood and sabicu veneer probably added in the late 18th century
The molded Greek-key decorated broken arched pediment centered by an urn above a glazed door with composite-capped fluted pilasters enclosing two silk-lined adjustable shelves with banded slant lid enclosing a gilt-tooled green leather-inset writing surface and an arrangement of pigeonholes and drawers around a central shaped panelled cupboard door, with four long graduated drawers, raised on bracket feet, bearing two overlapping depository labels to the reverse of the lower section, the first printed White and Co. Ltd.,/Furniture Depositories, the second W. Page & Son/Warehousing Department,/St. Albans and inscribed in pencil Foler(?), the feet probably reveneered
