Probably Kairouan, Tunisia, first half 10th century
Sura al-rahman LV, vv. 52-56, manuscript on parchment, 3ll. of fine sepia kufic, red, green and yellow dots marking vocalisation, sepia diagonal dashes marking letter pointing, the end of each verse marked with seven gold dots arranged in a pyramid, large gold illuminated medallion with the word khamsun in reserve in kufic, ink on verso slightly faded, slight staining and chipping of edges
