Bidar, Deccan, central India, 17th century
The grey metal body with flaring hexagonal section foot supporting the drop-shaped body with sloping flat face at each side, the neck with small collar, the flaring hexagonal section mouth with hinged domed cover, simple scrolling handle with chevron-motifs, and curling tapering spout with dragon-head terminal inlaid with meandering vine and chevron motifs, the body inlaid with silver and brass forming a central floral spray within a border of similar meandering motifs, the sides with similar floral meander, six floral sprays round the mouth, the cover probably slightly later with scrolling motifs terminating in birds' heads, slightly later knop and base of spout, slight rubbing and old alterations
