With sloping rim on short foot, the grey-green interior with an overall design of cusped white panels each containing red lobed motifs, overlaying smaller white and blue panels, the rim with similar part panels, the exterior with alternating green and blue motifs, rim fritted, hair cracks

Lot Essay

Bottles and jugs with rows of S-motifs which grow into clouds in later periods are well-known (see for example a very large jug sold in these Rooms 9 October 1990, lot 141). It is most unusual however to find this design on a dish.
