Similar ewers are in the Suna and Inan Kiraç Collection (Akalin, Sebnem and Bilgi, Hülya Yilmaz: Delights of Kütahya, Istanbul, 1997, nos.40, 42 and 43) while another is in the Hetjens Museum, Düsseldorf (Islamische Keramik, exhibition catalogue, Düsseldorf, 1973, no.461, p.298). In contrast to all of these, the present ewer has a greater clarity of drawing, particularly in the lower spandrels flanking the main roundels.
