AN IZNIK POTTERY BORDER TILE
Ottoman Turkey, circa 1570
The square tile divided into two registers, the larger lower one with complex interlaced blue, turquoise and white arabesques against a bright red ground, the upper smaller register with a band of blue, turquoise and green feathery palmettes on a white ground, plain narrow turquoise stripes above, below and dividing the two, firing cracks, glaze chips at each side,
