Bagge taught at the École des Arts Appliques de Paris from 1922 to 1927, when he was appointed Professeur Chef d'Atelier in the Weaving Department of the École Superieure des Arts Décoratifs, a post he held until 1960. The major part of the collection presented here, formerly owned by the French couture designer, Madame Grès, are original designs for hand-knotted carpets, each produced as a unique model by the firm of Lucien-Bouix, 7 rue de Mail, Paris between 1926 and 1928, and exhibit Bagge's predilection for strong geometrical and curvilinear forms.
