An American Renaissance style ormolu-mounted mahogany casket, on associated stand

The rectangular hinged top with a finely-cast oval relief plaque of Hercules, surrounded by latticework, and framed by a band of scrolling foliage with griffins and masks, the corners with griffin monopodiae volutes, lifting to a zinc-lined interior upholstered in blue velvet, the front with an oval plaque of Diana with similar corner volutes and banding above and below, centred by bust roundels, flanked by herms, the reverse similarly decorated with a roundel of Neptune, the sides with similar banding and carrying handles cast as lions, one engraved to the underside E. F. Caldwell & Co./New York, on an associated stand with squared tapering legs
The casket: 10½in. (26.7cm.) high; 15¾in. (40cm.) wide; 13¼in. (33.7cm.) deep; Overall: 26½in. (67.3cm.) high
