The asymmetrical cartouche-shaped clockcase surmounted by Chronos and set with a circular ormolu dial with enamelled Roman chapters and twin-train musical movement, above a shaped case set with a hinged trellis-parquetry door above a glazed cartouche-form window revealing the Apollo-mask pendulum, on a spreading base with paw-cast feet and conforming wooden plinth

Lot Essay

An example of Charles Cressent's original régulateur, of which the present model is a copy, is in the collection of Her Majesty the Queen at Buckingham Palace (illustrated in A. Pradère, Les Ebénistes français de Louis XIV à la Révolution, Paris, 1989, p. 135).
