CIRCA 1900, NAPLES, A COPY OF A 1ST CENTURY A.D. ORIGINAL FROM POMPEII
With characteristic high angular crest, broad brim curving over the brow, hinged chin and cheek-guard with grilled visor above, two plume holders on either side, the helmet decorated with relief scene symbolising victorious Rome over subjugated people, with the central victor flanked by two obeisant kneeling figures holding standards, a male and female figure with hands bound behind their backs and a figure of winged Victory flanking a trophy surrounded by armour of the defeated on each side, manufactured by G. Sommer & Figlio, Naples
