A UNIQUE 10 VINTAGE VERTICAL LOT OF ORNELLAIA, 1990-1999, OFFERED IN RARE DOUBLE-MAGNUMS, RELEASED DIRECTLY FROM THE ESTATE RESERVES

The Tenuta dell'Ornellaia Estate was founded in 1981 by Lodovico Antinori, who, with the help of renowned oenologist Andre Tchelistcheff, selected varietals that they believed would compliment the microclimate and terroir of the property. Currently, 60 hectares are planted, made up from Cabernet Sauvignon (33 hectares), Cabernet Franc (9 hectares) and Merlot (18 hectares). The first commercial vintage was produced in 1985. The vineyards enjoy a South West exposure and range in altitude from 50-120 metres. Yield is relatively low for the region at an average of less than 45 hecolitres per hectare. Following blending from individually vinified parcels, the wine spends 18 months in oak barriques. The wine then spends a further 12 months in bottle at the winery prior to release. Michel Rolland has been a consultant oenologist to the property since the early 1990's and in 2002, the Estate is jointly owned and overseen by the Frescobaldi and Mondavi families.
In 2001, the U.S. magazine, The Wine Spectator, voted the 1998 Ornellaia as the Wine of the Year.

All the double magnums are offered in original wooden cases.
