NOTE:
Tong Kai was a native of Huating (modern Shanghai). He was an excellent painter of birds and flowers, following the style of Song masters. He also painted portraits, and INCLUDING one for Dong Qichang (1555-1636). Please with the portrait, Dong wrote a horizontal panel for Tong Kai's studio.
