Collation A8 B10 a-z aa-zz aaa-ppp6 qqq8 rrr10 (A1r title, A2r tabula, a1 blank, a2r text, rrr10 blank). 402 leaves. 42 lines, with headline, double column; table in single column. Types: 5:160G (headings and headline); 12:93G (text). 3- to 7-line initials, paragraph marks and capital strokes in red. (Some light dampstaining, particularly to the margins of the title-page and to the last few quires; slight worming throughout.) Contemporary German blindstamped calf over wooden boards tooled with rosette and leaf stamps, early paper label on front cover, slightly later paper label on spine, evidence of 2 fore-edge clasps (scuffed with some loss of leather, a few wormholes). Provenance: Padua, Monastery of St. Nicholas (contemporary inscription on title).
FIRST EDITION of this work by one of the most prominent members of the University of Vienna, Michael Lochmaier. This copy belonged to the Augustinian monastery of St. Nicholas at Passau and was probably bound for them; the title page bears the contemporary inscription 'Iste liber est incliti Mon(aster)ii S.Nicolai extra muros famose civitate Patavie'.
Johann Petri was the second printer at Passau (the first was Benedictus Mayr); between 1485 and 1493, he produced about thirty books there. HC 10172; Polain (B) 2510; BMC II 617; Goff L-270.
