Lot Essay

A cast and reduced reproduction of the front of an early 8th. Century gilt-bronze Irish ring-brooch found and purchased by Waterhouse in 1850. They displayed copies of the brooch at the Great Exhibition in 1851. Refer "The Art of the Jeweller", British Museum Publications, entry 989.
