Two Derby figures of Milton
Both circa 1785, one with crown, crossed batons and D mark in iron red, both incised No 297, the white biscuit example incised with the workman's mark of a * for Isaac Farnsworth, William Duesbury & Co.
Each modelled with the poet holding a scroll and resting one elbow on a stack of books on a plinth moulded in relief with a scene taken from 'Paradise Lost', on a rectangular arcaded base with canted corners, one example left in the biscuit state, the other coloured, gilt and glazed
