with blonde mohair, black boot button eyes, pronounced clipped muzzle, black stitched nose, mouth and claws, swivel head, jointed elongated limbs with felt pads, hump and button in ear --15½in. (39.5cm.) high, circa 1910 (bald patch to top of right leg, thinning to forehead and left arm, hole in left hand pad and slight nibbles to feet pads)

Lot Essay

Billy was given to Bierget Vohlpahl for her 10th birthday. Bierget and Billy emigrated to Australia in 1923, and married an Australian soldier and they settled in Klemzig in South Australia. Billy stayed with his owner until she passed away in 1991.
