A fine Steiff teddy bear
with golden mohair, brown and black glass eyes, pronounced muzzle, black stitched nose, mouth and claws, swivel head, jointed elongated limbs with felt pads, hump, growler and button in ear --29in. (73.5cm.) high, 1926 (bald patch to inside of each ankle, slight thinning of mohair to legs, left foot pad with two small patches and a few slight holes)

Lot Essay

This bear was given as a reward to a Steiff factory employee, after 25 years working there from 1901 to 1926. This is a gesture which is still carried out today, and the gift is always from Steiff's best products.
