A fan, the silk leaf painted with a lady working at an embroidery frame next to another lady being courted by an officer, the reserves painted with putti at the altar of love and bent columns with garlands of roses, the border embroidered with sequins and spangles, the ivory sticks carved, pierced and gilt with figures in Turkish dress, geometric and floral ornaments - 11in. (28cm), French, circa 1775
