Dulwich Gallery. Dulwich: R. Cockburn, c. 1830. Large 2° (542 x 421mm). 50 numbered aquatint plates on 44 card mounts, each with letterpress caption mounted above or below. (Some spotting to mounts.) Unbound as issued in contemporary brown half morocco portfolio, lettering-piece on upper cover (rubbed and soiled).

THE DULWICH GALLERY'S COLLECTION OF OLD MASTERS FINELY REPRODUCED IN AQUATINT. The plates vary in size from 392 x 347mm. to 125 x 179mm. The issue described by Abbey was presumably earlier, having 30 plates in oblong folio format, without text. The present issue is expanded but was presumably also issued without the text. The artists represented include Claude, Cuyp, Guercino, Hobbima, Murillo, Teniers, Poussin, Rembrandt, Ruysdael, Salvator Rosa, Wouvermans, Vandervelde, and Wynants. Cf. Abbey Life 201.
