[Nouvelle Collection de Bouquets, Fleurs & Fruits Dessinée, Composée et Lithographée par Grobon frères]. Paris: (Mon. Aumont) François Delarue successor to J.J. Rousseau and E. Gambart & Cie in London, [circa 1850]. 2° (332 x 242mm). Without title or text, as issued. 10 fine hand-coloured lithographic plates of flowers by the Grobon brothers, printed by François Delarue (1) and Auguste Bry (9). (Some light spotting, one plate somewhat browned.) Original publisher's glazed paper boards, two-colour decorative title lithographed on upper cover (skilfully rebacked), modern cloth box.

A VERY RARE SERIES UNRECORDED BY ALL THE MAIN BIBLIOGRAPHIES. The colouring is rich and typical of the period, although the style is similar in many ways to Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759-1840), and also shows the influence of the great Lyonnais flower painter Antoine Berjon (1754-1843). The Grobon brothers, both of whom studied in Lyons, are recorded as having produced two other major works: the first an album entitled Fleurs after the designs of Redouté and the second Dessins inédits de P[sic]. Berjon published in Lyons between 1844 and 1850. In addition they were responsible for Méthode Grobon frères, études progressives de Fleurs et de Fruits, depuis les premiers éléments jusqu' à la compostion des groupes (Paris, 1850). A.E. Grobon is also recorded as having exhibited at both the Lyons Salon (from 1838) and the Paris Salon (between 1852 and 1870), his elder brother exhibited in Paris between 1842 and 1862 and in Lyons from 1842 to 1880, he ran an atélier. OCLC (listing only the National Art Library copy in the Victoria & Albert Museum, London).
