PERSONAL SELECTIONS FROM A PASSIONATE WINE COLLECTOR
It was a great pleasure of mine this past summer to have met and discussed the collection of this experienced and well travelled private collector. Upon first arrival, I was taken to view the collection. Captivatingly, it was housed in a converted subterranean bank vault! Installed with temperature/humidity control, alarm and racking, the vault is the nexus of a food and wine culture shared by the family as a whole. However, one can easily see that acquisitions were purposely suited to the needs and tastes of its owner.
From the late 1960s much of this presentation is from original purchase, some directly at the cellar door, such as the 1969 DRC Grands-Echézeaux-Réserve Personelle. Other selections came from private collections, winery direct sources and well established retail connections on both coasts. Highlights include: an original wooden case of 1975 La Mission-Haut-Brion Double Magnums and selections of 1945, 1947, 1961, 1970, 1982 Bordeaux. From Burgundy, mature de Vogüé, Clair-Daü, DRC, Jayer and Leroy.
True to form, our collector has chosen to retain bottles from the special vintages and therefore the broken case quantities. Can we blame him? All in all, this cellar offers the buyer many well priced, mature wines from France's most celebrated Bordeaux properties and Burgundy producers, some famous, other's forgotten, all of which could only be chosen by a true aficionado.

IMPORTANT NOTE: As to be expected with cool, damp storage conditions many of the labels have to some degree been damp affected and bin soiled. Those reflecting said condition have been noted in the lot description.
