THE HOLY TRINITY OF COTE-ROTIE
For many years, Guigal's single-vineyard Côte-Rôties have been admired for their concentration, beauty and strength. Careful viticultural techniques such as organic cultivation and late harvesting with extremely low yields give these rare single-vineyard offerings unequalled richness and depth. La Landonne, the most powerful of the three single-vineyards, is produced from a collection of small plots of steep terraced iron-rich earth. The only one made from 100 percent Syrah, it is, as a result, also the most tannic, opaque and masculine requiring a minimum of 8-10 years of cellaring before revealing itself to the discerning palate. La Mouline, consistently silky and supple, contains between 812 Viognier rendering it the most feminine and fragrant. Often delicious and revealing upon release, this wine continues to develop complexity and elegance as it gracefully ages with time. Finally, La Turque, the youngest vine plot of the trio, is a synthesis of the other two single-vineyards styles. With the compelling concentration of La Landonne fused with the flowery aromatics of La Mouline, it, too, is an equally impressive offering that can be enjoyed upon release or cellared for years to come.
