Lot Essay

The knot count is 28 horizontal by 21 vertical per inch.

It is unusual for Fereghan rugs to be woven in silk and this is a suberb, very finely woven example. The weaver has created a subtle yet sophisticated rug by combining a play of saturated jewel-like colors with a tribal design conceit of a central medallion on an open field.
