NEWTON'S New & Improved Terrestrial Globe containing the latest Discoveries 66, Chancery Lane London 1846
A fine 4½-inch (11.4cm.) diameter miniature terrestrial table globe made up of twelve hand-coloured engraved gores and two polar calottes, the equatorial and meridian at 30°W graduated in degrees, the Greenwich meridian ungraduated, the ecliptic graduated in days of the houses of the Zodiac, the oceans with an analemma and the tracks of Cook's second voyage and those of Biscoe with dates, Antarctica with short stretches of coastline for Graham Land and Enderby Land and a note Capt. Weddell reached this point in 1825, the continents with nation states in dotted outline and showing rivers, mountains, deserts, towns and cities (well repaired cracks throughout, overall fine) with an unengraved brass meridian half circle raised on a baluster turned fruitwood column and circular plinth base -- 8in. (20.3cm.) high
