A pair of Meissen allegorical groups
Circa 1880, blue crossed swords marks, incised F.63 and F.65, Pressnummern 63 and 137, painted numerals 41. and 12 in blue and iron-red
After originals by M.V. Acier, known as 'The Broken Bridge' and 'The Broken Eggs', the first group modelled as a gallant and companion, the gallant wearing a blue coat and striped breeches, modelled stooping supporting his female companion, wearing a plumed Macaroni wig, pink flowered overskirt, apron and skirt, garlanded with flowers, before them a broken bridge with an attendant Cupid scattering roses, to the back of the group another Cupid, the other group with a lady standing with her ands crossed her breast, turning away from a seated older companion, both wearing wigs and flowered clothes, an upturned basket of eggs at her feet before a kneeling Cupid, with a putto hiding in the flounces of the standing figures skirt, both on rockwork mounds above oval gadrooned base (some minor chipping and damages)
