A FRAGMENTARY ATTIC RED-FIGURED CALYX-KRATER
Attributed to the Altamura Painter, Circa 465 B.C.
One side preserving a departure scene with a warrior clasping hands with a woman, the warrior wearing a Chalcidian helmet and a chlamys, holding a large circular shield with a dotted border and a device in black of a warrior on a groundline with a spear and a shield with a leather apron, the woman wearing a dotted chiton and a himation, holding a spear in her left hand, the pair framed by two figures, each wearing a short chiton, the figure to the right with a spear over the left shoulder, the other side with a warrior and a woman, the warrior in a short chiton and cuirass, a chlamys over the shoulders, the woman in an elaborate himation, with palmettes and tendrils in between
