AN ETRUSCAN BUCCHERO OINOCHOE
Circa Early 6th Century B.C.
The large ovoid body molded with a frieze of twelve dancing nude youths in profile, gesticulating with one arm raised and one lowered, their hair flowing on to their shoulders, all facing a central draped female figure balancing a dinos on her head, her arms at her sides, below them a band of seventeen facing feline heads, with rounded erect ears, lolling tongues and wide eyes, a band of long vertical tongues above the frieze, the single handle molded with a large facing head where it joins to the rim
