A ROMAN BRONZE BALSAMARIUM
Circa 2nd Century A.D.
In the form of a bust of a youth, depicted nude, his hair a mass of thick echeloned locks falling to the nape of his neck, wearing a twisted torque with a heart-shaped pendant, his head turned slightly to the left, his brows indicated by incised dashes, his large almond-shaped eyes with the pupils indicated, with thin lips and a rounded chin, the vessel resting on a footed pedestal, with a high ridged biconical spout and flaring mouth, between two rings through which is looped the handle, each end of which terminates in a duck head, the shaft with incised feathering along its length
