1992 FERRARI 512 TR
Registration No. J989 OPK
Chassis No. ZFFLA40000092428

Rosso with magnolia upholstery and red interior carpets
Engine: 12 cylinders, horizontally opposed, rear engine centrally and longitudinally located, dry sump, 4,943cc, 421bhp at 6,750rpm; Gearbox: five-speed manual in unit with engine, limited slip differential; Suspension: independent front and rear, wishbones, coil springs, double acting telescopic hydraulic dampers; Brakes: hydraulic ventilated disc brakes all round. Right hand drive.
Ferrari is back where it belongs, making the finest supercar in production…. This goes beyond the best engine there is, past its superb handling and massive presence and visits those places where supercars rarely venture. It's quiet, comfortable and amazingly easy to drive. The Autocar Road Test, July 1992.
When unveiled in 1984, the Testarossa received many awards including the Design of the Year and Car Design Award, both of which recognised its aesthetics and technical accomplishments. The 512 TR was a natural successor with the central objective of a more powerful engine derived from the incredible F40. Using their wealth of experience and knowledge of fluid dynamics, the Ferrari engineers redesigned the engine intake manifolds, cylinder heads and camshafts and coupled the engine to an integrated electronic fuel-injection system, thereby allowing for continuous operation of the engine at 7,250rpm (redline 7,400rpm). The gearbox was also improved, while other mechanical improvements were incorporated such as aluminium alloy steering joints and lightweight springs. Performance figures now read 0-60mph in 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 192mph.
Externally the Ferrari featured new trapezoidal air-intake scoops, a body coloured front spoiler integral with the bumper, rear deck with integral air intake slots, dual-coloured rear lights and redesigned 18 inch wheels. The interior was also restyled and featured newly designed seats, centre instrument binnacle, instrumentation and silk-screen anti-glare front windshield among other improvements.
This example was purchased new from Maranello by Sir Elton John. In his ownership, a remarkable 1812 miles only were covered by the car, which when the regular testing use, and maintenance figures are deducted meant it had been used extremely rarely. Despite its low mileage, the Ferrari was always prepared and ready to use, and consequently has been annually serviced.
The car was purchased from Christie's auction of Exceptional Motor Cars from the Collection of Sir Elton John CBE in June 2002. Since that time it has been carefully stored, but not used.
It is offered complete with its tool kit, handbook and manual, and has a current MoT and road fund licence
