A French gilt-brass and porcelain-mounted striking and repeating carriage clock, circa 1880
The anglaise riche case with fluted columns and dentil mouldings, mounted with painted porcelain side panels decorated respectively with a shepherdess in a field of sheep spinning wool and with a maiden fetching water from a stream, each panel signed L.S., the conforming dial with Arabic chapter ring and painted with figures and birds beside a watermill, the twin barrel movement with gilt platform to the bimetallic balance with lever escapement, strike/repeat on gong to the back plate numbered 7258 -- 6½in. (16.5cm.) high to hilt of handle
