A French engraved gilt-brass and porcelain-mounted striking and repeating carriage clock with alarm, circa 1880
The foliate engraved gorge case mounted with porcelain side panels painted with rustic couples on pink reserves and within turquoise jewelled borders, the conforming dial (crack) with Roman chapter ring, blued steel moon hands, with alarm dial below, the twin barrel movement with silvered platform to a bimetallic balance with lever escapement, strike/repeat/alarm on gong to the back plate stamped for Margaine and numbered 2354 -- 5¾in. (14.5cm.) high to hilt of handle
